Documented workflows
Bitsight's ratings transparency page describes evaluating external digital assets and provides information about methodology governance and corrections. It states that rated organizations can challenge assets and findings, including organizations that are not customers. Its calculation documentation explains the externally observable data used in ratings.
Implementation considerations
Begin with a known supplier and the particular service you intend to use. Check the relationship between its entity, attributed assets, and your proposed dependency. A company-wide rating may require additional investigation before it answers a service-specific question.
Inspect a finding from observation through review, vendor response, and follow-up. Ask how a corrected asset, remediated issue, or aging observation changes what reviewers see. Identify the internal owner who will evaluate alerts and decide whether the relationship needs another review.
Questions to verify in a demo
- Can your team inspect the relevant asset attribution and source finding?
- What can a supplier see, dispute, and provide as supporting evidence?
- How are rating changes explained when the methodology changes?
- Which monitoring, collaboration, integration, and reporting capabilities are included?
- What history and decision records can be exported for your review process?
Scope to confirm
Request a module-level quote that separates security ratings from other products and services. Compare monitored entities, users, alerting, data access, exports, onboarding, and support on the same basis as alternatives. Confirm the permitted use and sharing of findings under the proposed contract.
External findings can help prioritize investigation. They do not demonstrate every internal practice, replace your supplier-specific decision, or guarantee that an incident will not occur. This profile summarizes public documentation rather than hands-on product testing.
